Vectis has developed a revolutionary new automated processor providing a step change in performance at a competitive capital cost. Pricing competitively but with higher performance rapid payback of less than 2 years is expected via a 50% decrease in chemical consumption as well as significantly reduced operating labour and environmental disposal issues. Improved control at the reaction surface provides the quality and consistency required by high resolution dot CtP systems. A more compact design takes less floor space and provides increased throughput. Planned options to complete a fully autonomous system include automated plate stacking, automatic cleaning and chemical change and integrated effluent treatment. The Vectis processor is extremely attractive to printers needing to improve their bottom line as well as media vendors looking for improved performance to support new sales of plates and systems.
Technology
The Vectis Processor technology is fundamentally different from existing systems. Key to the design is the use of flowing chemicals vs. the conventional dip tank. Dip tanks are open vats of chemicals through which the plates are fed via a series of rollers. The chemical bath is open to the air and contaminants are difficult to remove. Much like a shower vs. a bathtub, the Vectis approach maintains a clean and controlled flow of chemicals over the surface and eliminates the problem of contaminant build-up. A novel plate handling system enables the use of a sealed developer chamber. Elimination of airborne contamination and evaporation enables predictable control of chemistry. The unique configuration allows the system to incorporate an advanced control system, including automated chemistry management and self-clean cycles, to continuously maintain the best possible processing performance.
